WE ARE UNITED IN RESISTANCE

Resist & Persist

If you are upset about the direction that our country has taken, you are not alone. It’s not enough to be angry or scared and you can’t pretend that it isn’t happening. You can’t assume that others will handle it for you. It is up to you now. Your voice matters.

How To Resist Learn How to Take Action

Your voice matters. Not just by voting every four years, but by daily actions that strengthen our democracy and your stake in it. If there is anything good that can come out of what has transpired in our country lately, it’s this awakening and it’s essential that you are a part of it. As members of Indivisible Northern New Jersey, you will be involved with:

  • ENGAGING OFFICIALS

Engaging our elected officials to ensure that they are working on our behalf rather than special interests. This includes coordinated efforts to meet with our representatives, keeping in contact with them and following their actions closely.

  • BUILDING COALITIONS

Working with similarly aligned groups to build a broader coalition and stronger resistance.

  • FOSTERING COMMUNITY

Creating a supportive community based on civic engagement and shared responsibility.

  • ACTIVATING CITIZENS

Reaching out to fellow citizens in your area to get them involved and mobilize their efforts.

Who To Contact Your Elected Officials

Your elected officials, like most politicians, are working hard to represent us. However, in order to help fund their re-election campaigns, they generally spend more time interacting with special interests, fundraisers and lobbyists than us citizens — and this needs to change. As the people of the 5th District, we will support our elected officials when they work in our interests and make sure they know when they stray from that commitment.

He was elected on October 16, 2013 in a special election to succeed Frank Lautenberg, who died in office, thus becoming the first black U.S. Senator from New Jersey. In November 2014, he was re-elected to a full six-year term.
